Late night at the gym, ran over to Waterloo and City for some quality bar food: chicken liver pate, tuna tartar, mussels in a coconut curry sauce and a plate of cured meats!

Sto: Breakfast: Korean style baby back ribs in kimche soup (I think it's called "Dwaejigogi Kimchijjigae"), unsweetened orange juice. Lunch: Korean bbq chicken, salad, orange, kimche.

Other than having to stave off urges to eat certain "forbidden" items, I'm definitely liking trying to be strict consistently for weeks at a time. Before this challenge started (I'm only unofficially participating since I forgot to pay the $10 and still haven't done the initial WOD), I was trying to do zone (and selective Paleo) but definitely cheating regularly, especially on weekends. This challenge has helped me keep strict, so thanks PCF. I'm trying to gauge whether I feel any better/worse performance-wise, but so far it's really hard to tell. One thing I THINK I've noticed is that letting myself have more than the allocated blocks of protein might be helping me build muscle faster. This isn't necessarily surprising, but it is useful to realize that we might need to experiment and modify the blocks based on our performance goals.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has been experimenting by varying the blocks from what is in the guide, and what they've noticed.

Dinner - Beef bacon and hambuger patty with sauteed mustard greens and onions

Sto, I remember this article that Robb Wolf wrote called, "42 Ways to Skin the Zone" where he talks about different strategies, can't remember exactly, but I think its about $3 on catalyst athletics website. CF Football recommends a minimum of 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight every day for those looking to gain weight.

Sorry for the delay. Here's the sloppy joe recipe. The only difference is that I added a smidge of tomato paste which sweetened it up a bit more: http://paleozone.posterous.com/paleo-sloppy-joe but, I used ground bison instead of ground beef. I'm going to try it with ground turkey (because I have some, already), but I think it's more of a red meat sort of dish. I'm debating using some coconut milk in it with the turkey... We'll see:-)

Breakfast: 3 eggs, olive oil, lunch, turkey burger with cheese protein style (no bun and I kicked the potatoes to the curb and didn't eat them), snack: cheese, nuts, dried fruit from starbucks (it a was a snack in a pinch), 2 normal sized glasses of wine, dinner: turkey burger, macadamia nuts, strawberries

Resorted back to old habits and didn't eat breakfast. I didn't even think about it until around 1:30 when I was about ready to gnaw my own arm off I was so hungry. But instead of my arm I opted for carne asada, three eggs and guacamole for lunch; not the most balanced meal but it was so good!

For dinner I may have overdone it on the protein again; I had a 1/4 chicken and 6 tigershrimp from baby blues (the shrimp had an unexpected creamy sauce on them that I did my best to remove) with a bunch of steamed broccoli and some raw carrots. I did cheat a bit and put some BBQ sauce on the chicken (but it's Baby Blues! I think the paleo gods would forgive me because their extra hot sauce is the best! I didn't use as much as I usually would though just enough for the extra kick.)

I may have had a minor sugar slip with the sauce but was able to resist earlier in the day when they celebrated some birthdays in my office which that meant the inevitable cake temptation. Luckily there are two other people in my office embarking on the paleo journey so we all huddled together and ignored the smell of frosting in the air. However, to be honest, as good as I'm sure it tasted I wasn't all that tempted because I can't believe how good I feel after less than two weeks of eating like this and I didn't want to mess it up with a piece of cake.

Oh, and thanks Caroline for the sloppy Joe recipe! I'll be making that sometime soon!
